As 2017 draws to a close, there is still time to support TCA and our Anniversary campaign through a year-end donation. On Giving Tuesday, November 28th, Teen Cancer America launched our 5th Anniversary Giving 5 Campaign! TCA ambassadors, advocates, partners, and supporters posted videos telling their followers to high five TCA by donating increments of $5 to support teen lives. Keep the videos coming to help us celebrate 5 years of work to improve the experience and care of teenage and young adult cancer patients around the US. Thank you to everyone who has already posted and donated! So far we’ve raised $18,000 and counting. Help us to continue our work to transform the cancer care in America for our young people.

ROCK LEGENDS UNITE TO CREATE A UNIQUE LEGACY PHOTOGRAPH
British Photographer Alistair Morrison and musician Roger Daltrey joined forces to create an amazing photograph – The Adoration – Searching For Apollo. The artwork was unveiled at a reception attended by many of the participating musicians at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum on November 13th.
This photograph is for sale and aims to support Daltrey’s charities, Teenage Cancer Trust and Teen Cancer America.
The Adoration – Searching For Apollo, is a unique legacy photograph featuring over 70 of the most iconic music legends of the past five decades as street buskers – the name of the piece deriving from the Spanish ‘buscar’ which means ‘searching for’; Apollo being the God of culture, art and music. Sir Paul McCartney, Ray Davies, Rod Stewart, Billy Idol, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, George Clinton, Bruce Springsteen, Smokey Robinson, James Taylor, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Ringo Starr, and Jon Bon Jovi are just some of the names in this extraordinary artwork that brings together some of the most remarkable and influential musicians of our time.

Teen Cancer America is hosting the Global Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Congress in Atlanta. It is the first time this global meeting has ever been held in the USA. The Congress has attracted almost 400 health professionals from 23 countries, representing 125 hospitals, including all of our US partners. The annual event is part of a Global Accord between Teen Cancer America, Teenage Cancer Trust UK, CanTeen Australia, and this year also partners Critical Mass (US). Delegates have been treated to excellent presentations by a wide range of world class speakers. Char Fowler, board member and patron said,”Heartfelt thanks to Simon Davies and Dr. Stuart Siegel, and TCA staff. We are thrilled by the conference and speakers. We hope that the attendees carry the AYA message back to their respective hospitals and every year we see awareness grow. With increased awareness comes increased action which will improve outcomes for the AYA community.” The resulting synergy between such a diversity of nations and professional disciplines is inspiring and should lead to substantial improvements in research, treatment and support for young people with cancer.

In our January issue, we will feature greater coverage.
